What to Know
About Most Plans
With a dental insurance plan, paying for your dental treatments becomes not only more affordable, but more predictable, especially compared to having no insurance at all. Provided by most employers, dental insurance is largely focused on preventive care and reduces the risk of a dental emergency occur at a later date. Our team members are specifically trained to confirm the benefits your coverage provides and maximize them to the fullest, so you can leave the dental office feeling confident.
Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
Many people tend to conflate dental insurance and medical insurance, but the fact of the matter is they are quite different. For one, medical insurance is meant to be used when a serious issue appears, such as a physical injury or major illness. In contrast, dental insurance should be used quite regularly. This is why you’ll find that most plans, regardless of provider, will cover the majority (if not 100 percent) of preventive forms of care.
What Your Dental Insurance Covers
Every plan will have its own unique stipulations that we’ll help you understand once you use your benefits, but most plans still offer coverage in the same way. For example:
Preventive Care – includes exams, cleanings, X-rays, and sometimes fluoride therapy for younger patients. Usually covered at or close to 100 percent.
Minor Restorative Care – typically includes dental fillings and endodontic care. Usually covered between 70 and 80 percent.
Major Restorative Care – often covers dental crowns, bridges and dentures. Covered up to 50 percent by insurance.
Keep in mind that dental implant placement and cosmetic enhancements are not generally covered by dental insurance.
We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-of-Network Providers
By being in-network with a dental insurance provider’s plan, it essentially means we’ve agreed to charge specific rates for services covered by that plan. This generally results in lower costs for patients. However, we’re happy to accept plans from out-of-network providers. In many cases, the costs are comparable depending on the services you need.
We’re in-network with the following insurance providers:
Aetna
Assurant (Sunlife)
BCBS of AZ
Cigna
Delta Dental
Guardian
Humana
Metlife
Principal
United Concordia
